What does Abundancy look like in Scripture?

From one of my favorite blogs, comes the context behind what Jesus meant by the “abundant” life. I saw this article while working through the deception during the teaching I received as a new believer years ago and the Christianity of the Bible. I hope this blesses you as it did me.

Context Matters: Jesus Came to Give Abundant Life.

By Ryan Higginbottom

Perhaps you’ve heard that Jesus didn’t just come to give life, he came to give abundant life. You may have seen teachers urge that Christians should not be poor, should not be sad, should not be sick, should not be lacking in any blessings God can give. After all, how does a less than existence match up with an abundant life?

When we learn to read the Bible properly—not as a series of isolated words and phrases—we find that some familiar phrases take on entirely new meanings.

What the Gospel is and why most of us don’t know it.

I was watching a sermon this morning on Romans chapter 3 – one of my favorite books of the Bible – by a pastor I had never heard of before.

I was impressed by the way he could take concepts that we new Christians in the 21st century have difficulty understanding, and explaining not only what they are but why we have difficulty understanding them. He also without apology explains what the church is doing wrong in it’s explanation of the Gospel.

Paul Washer became a believer while studying at the University of Texas. After graduating, he moved to Peru and served there as a missionary for ten years, during which time he founded the HeartCry Missionary Society in order to support Peruvian church planters. HeartCry’s work now supports indigenous missionaries throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Eurasia, North America, and Latin America.

Paul now serves as one of the laborers with the HeartCry Missionary Society. He and his wife Charo have four children: Ian, Evan, Rowan, and Bronwyn

Here is the Roman 3 Video I watched this morning. I pray that it blesses you the way it has me.

Testing the Spirits / Spiritual Warfare

I was watching a sermon from John MacArthur today which I felt I needed to share. Pastor MacArthur does a phenomenal job sticking with Scripture when describing what Spiritual Warfare is, what it isn’t, and how to test the spirits. He speaks of who is responsible for doing it and why we do it.

He explains in great detail who the Holy Spirit is, and how He works in our lives. And he warns of the wolves in sheep’s clothing today, inside our church.
